"If you're not radical, you're not relevant."
As soon as I heard about the rally in Louisville to peacefully unify all walks of life who fear the upcoming administration and what it means for the nation, I knew I'd be there with my camera. Perhaps it was a longing to revisit the old days of photojournalism, perhaps it was because I wanted to tell the story from the perspective of the activist in the crowd. Perhaps I can't put into words why I wanted to freeze these moments in time... This nation is on a precipice of transformation; knowledge of history is important now more than ever. And because of this, documentation of current events is imperative so that history can continue to be told.
People of the future: of 2018, 2122, and people of January 21, 2017, this is what happened in Louisville on this unusually warm Saturday in January. Citizens of all ages, races, and orientations gathered in love at the base of Louisville City Hall and at the feet of Thomas Jefferson, and a precedent was set. Don't expect things to be the same.
