“Before and after I take a picture, I would ask myself: am I enjoying this? Is the person who I’m shooting enjoying this? Cause the reason of being is ‘be happy’. If every photo we take is for some specific reason, then I would rather sit down and relax with my friends, have a cup of tea, watch movies, or exchange our first sexperience, or anything else.”
The reason of being is 'be happy.'
There were many times this year when I would question why I was photographing weddings. I still question why I photograph weddings. Why I photograph anything. Sometimes my answer is an off-putting 'I don't know,' which causes me to analyze who I am and where I am and reevaluate life. 'I don't know' doesn't scare me. It pushes me to growth. It pushes me to question, to evolve, to live.
These images aren't the "I don't knows.' These images are the yes's. They are what I achieve when all is right... even when it doesn't appear that way. Because these images are life.
Let's get started.
Special thanks to Sarah Williams and Chaz Cruz for letting me be their ride or die in Virginia and Ohio.
